The retreat is located in northern British Columbia, near the historic village of Atlin. The
property naturally descends over three terraces, offering a variety of breathtaking views overlooking Atlin Lake and the
spectacular mountains of the Coastal Range. The lake transports you to another world with its undisturbed
shoreline, its 95 islands, and the pristine blue water that reflects the rugged, undisturbed beauty of the glacial
mountains. Atlin Lake is the largest natural lake in British Columbia, 120 km (85-miles) long.
The 5.8 hectares, mostly forested, are nestled in a sheltered, cup-shaped slope of Monarch Mountain at
about 100 meters (300 feet) above Atlin Lake, which is at an altitude 670 meters or 2,200 feet. A wildflower
meadow and delightful glimpses of the woodland pond greet you at the entrance. An acre of land has been cleared
for a garden. The entire property, situated in an unspoiled wilderness setting, is surrounded by Crown land ensuring its
privacy. The estate is unique as it has three distinct visual environments, with poplar stands surrounding the
pond. Spruce and jack pine forests provide the backdrop. Seldom will one find so many plant ecosystems
within a single site – boreal spruce forests, lakeshores, marshes, alpine and sub-alpine meadows … it's a
botanical paradise.
The scenic pond is the focal point on the property. There are rushing creeks providing abundant and reliable
water, especially desirable in Atlin's dry, sunny climate. Besides the two creeks and the pond, there is an excellent
well. Saskatoon and cranberry bushes surround the pond – appealing to people and song birds alike. You
may spot foxes from your window and the occasional moose at dusk. Spruce grouse are common in the
woods. Ravens, osprey and eagles can be seen soaring in the sky.
A footpath meanders down to the Atlin Lake beach near Pine Creek. The Monarch Mountain Trail, the
most popular hiking trail in the area, runs along one side of the property, an invitation to explore the
spectacular panoramas from Monarch Mountain, altitude 1,568 m (4,700 feet).
Up to 16 people can be accommodated in winterized residences. During the summer months 7 generously
sized living and studio tents provide living and working space for another 10 people. There are a number
of excellent building sites on the property. The property can be legally subdivided for further development. In
addition, the owner of this property is entitled, with crown approval, to expand into surrounding crown land.
Atlin, being unincorporated, has no local building codes.
The property is Lot #2 1599, Cassiar Land District. A current survey is available. There are no mineral
claims or other invisible claims on the property.
